Pine Grove Metal Craft

Did you know? The Lancaster County Amish community owns and drives more than 2,000 carriage horses. Every seven weeks, these hardworking horses have their shoes refitted. Needless to say, the farrier industry in Amish Country is booming. Each year tons of horseshoes are discarded – unless they’re recycled! These creatively refurbished horseshoes let you take home just a tiny bit of the serene music of a horse and buggy on a Lancaster County backroad.

What started as a moment of free time in a young farrier’s hands has grown into an artful passion. Spent horseshoes are painstakingly welded together to form these unique pieces of art. With creative use of paint, the horseshoes are repurposed and preserved for years of exposure to the elements.
